Ondo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Babatunde Kolawole, has said the just-concluded zonal congress of the party in the South-West has fulfilled constitutional requirements and positioned the party for success in forthcoming elections.

Speaking in an interview in Lagos, he explained that the congress, which is held every four years, is designed to elect officials who will drive the party’s ideals across the zones.

He said that the exercise carried out in the South-West was in line with similar congresses held across other geopolitical zones of the country.

He said, “The import for the party is that we met constitutional requirements. Every four years, we have our zonal congress and those congresses are meant to elect officials that will drive the ideals of the party in our zones. As we have done here, the same has also taken place in other zones across the country.”

He noted that with elections ahead, the development signifies the readiness of the APC to participate fully and successfully at all levels.

He added, “Now we have elections ahead of us. It simply means that we are prepared for the forthcoming elections. The party will deliver in all sets of elections, starting from the presidential election, the National Assembly, the House of Assembly and other levels. We are prepared as a party.”

He insisted that meeting the constitutional requirements has placed the party on a strong footing to secure victory in the coming polls.

On the re-election of the National Vice Chairman, South-West, Kolawole expressed confidence in his leadership, describing him as capable and experienced.

He enthused, “He is returning for the second time. He is a man with the capacity and all the necessary requirements. He is intellectually mobile to drive the ideals of the zone. He has done it in the past four years, and the party believes he can deliver again. That is why he was re-elected to provide leadership for another four years.”

Speaking on the chances of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kolawole declared that the South-West remains fully committed to his candidature.

He added, “As a matter of fact, we don’t have a contest in the South-West. The region is totally for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and we are going to give an unprecedented result; votes that have never been imagined in the whole of the South-West. This time around, it is going to be total.”
