Osun NUJ to Hold 2026 Ramadan Lecture Tuesday

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, will in Tuwsday hold its annual Ramadan Lecture as part of activities to promote moral values, spiritual reflection and peaceful coexistence during the month of Ramadan.

The lecture, which is expected to attract journalists, Islamic scholars, traditional rulers and members of the public, will take place at the NUJ State Secretariat near Government Technical College along Iwo–Ibadan Road, Osogbo, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Alhaji Moshood Suleiman, the Baba Adinni of Osun State, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, will serve as the Chairman of the occasion..

The event will also have prominent traditional rulers as Royal Fathers of the Day, including the Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Oba Adeyemi Adeyanju, the Alabeere of Abeere, Oba Mutallib Adefemi Adelakin (Abiade II), and the Alagunbeelewo of Agunbeelewo, Oba Maroof Olayiwola Lawal (Onijaekun I)

A renowned young international Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gaosu Shabaab, will deliver the Ramadan lecture on the theme: “Islam and the Refinement of Character Before, During and After the Holy Month of Ramadan.”

The programme will be hosted by the Chairman of the NUJ Osun State Council, Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin, alongside members of the union.

Organisers said the event would also feature spiritually uplifting activities including recitation of the Holy Qur’an, quiz competitions and the breaking of the Ramadan fast (Iftar) with invited guests.

The annual Ramadan lecture organised by the NUJ Osun Council has become an important platform for spiritual reflection, moral guidance and interaction between journalists, religious leaders and the wider community during the holy month.
