PDP, LP Missing as INEC Releases Final List for Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the August 15 2026 Osun State governorship election, with the notable absence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Osun State Public Relations Officer of INEC, Musa Olurode.

According to the electoral body, a total of 14 political parties successfully submitted candidates whose names have now been published as the final list for the forthcoming poll.

The political parties cleared by INEC include:Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, All Progressives Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Peoples Redemption Party, Young Progressive Party and
Zenith Labour Party.

INEC stated that the publication of the final list is in line with the electoral timetable and guidelines for the conduct of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The absence of the PDP and LP from the list has sparked political discussions within the state, as both parties had previously been active in the build-up to the election.

Further developments are expected as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the governorship poll.
