The new police inspector general, Mr Tunji Disu, has removed the Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO), Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, an assistant commissioner, ACP

Hundeyin’s removal, which came barely 24;hours after the new police boss was sworn in, was just six months after he assumed office.

Disu was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday as Nigeria’s 23rd overall police boss.

Approval for Hundeyin’s removal was reportedly granted on Thursday, March 5, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

The circumstances surrounding the decision remain unclear.

The development comes amid ongoing restructuring within the police hierarchy following the emergence of new leadership at the Force Headquarters.

A competent source confirmed the development, saying “The Force Public Relations has been removed this morning.”

Disu was appointed last week as the 23rd IGP following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun, who had held the position since 2023.

Egbetokun appointed Hundeyin as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) in September 2025.

Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos police command, replaced Muyiwa Adejobi, who was redeployed to Delta Police Command.
