Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects over a wall inscription that triggered fears of a possible bandit attack in the Ajegunle area of Ila-Orangun.
According to police and the First Information Report (FIR), the arrests followed a complaint received on February 18, 2026, after the words “Bandit Today Today” were discovered written on a resident’s wall, sparking panic among residents.
Police said the development caused apprehension in the community, with some residents reportedly fleeing their homes amid fears of an imminent attack.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said operatives of the State Intelligence Department conducted an intelligence-driven investigation that led to the arrest of four suspects: Idris Abubakar (16), Abubakar Audu (adult), Ahmed Abubakar (19), and Mohammed Omotayo (16).
Preliminary investigations revealed that Idris Abubakar allegedly wrote the inscription and confessed to the act, claiming he acted out of ignorance.
The police described the incident as conduct capable of causing public disturbance and reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining peace and security across Osun State.
The command urged residents to refrain from actions capable of inciting panic or disrupting public order, while assuring that security agencies will continue surveillance and proactive policing across communities. Arrest Four
