Ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, key leaders of the All Progressives Congress have intensified consultations aimed at reclaiming the state from the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party.

Towards this end, Marine and Blue Economy minister, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola met with Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District and also Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries, and his Osun Central counterpart, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla,in Abuja.

The closed-door meeting, which lasted over two hours, was described by party sources as strategic and forward-looking, focusing on the political future of Osun State and preparations for the forthcoming governorship election.

A statement  by Fadahunsi’s spokesman, Omole  Omo-Osodi, said the meeting was part of broader efforts to “rescue Osun from total collapse,” alleging that the current administration has failed to meet the expectations of the people.

It urged party members across the state to intensify mobilisation and remain united ahead of the election, stressing that the APC must present a credible and capable alternative to the electorate.

Senator Fadahunsi expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as the right leader to reposition Osun State.

He said, “The present administration has seriously failed the state and lacks the capacity to govern Osun beyond 2026.”

“We have a capable hand to rebuild the fallen walls of Osun.

“Only Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has the competence and experience to address the challenges confronting our state. We cannot afford to miss this opportunity.”

He added that Oyebamiji’s candidacy represents a turning point for Osun, assuring party supporters that the APC flagbearer is committed to the development and prosperity of the state.

The meeting held amid heightened political activities as parties and stakeholders position themselves ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship election.
