Our research shows that technical education is directly linked to industry and community needs.
Therefore, ICOMSTECH’s partnership with Yabatech aims to bridge existing gaps by introducing new, specialized higher technical and vocational courses to technical graduates.
These TVET courses were adopted to help GTC Idanre graduates, allowing them to advance their careers after completing the Federal Craft Certificate &NABTEB (a three-year course) at the Technical College.
However, many Technical graduates either change their program or do not pursue a related path due to the unavailability of such a course at a higher level.
For example, students who studied Welding and Fabrication can now continue their education in this field at a higher level and ultimately graduate with advanced qualifications in their chosen area.
Just two institutions that offer such courses in Nigeria(YABATECH &PTI-WARRI)
The following have made us initiate this scheme:
1. To enhance employability, 2. The TVET is central to the National Development, and the economic development reduces youth unemployment.
3. Another major setback we are addressing is the lack of strong links between Technical Education in the community and the higher advancement and industries.
4. Connect Federal Institution(Yabatech) to link the Students for International Internship
We have met the Board for Adult, Technical, and Vocational Education for this initiative, as they remain stakeholders in this scheme.
