Veteran journalist Yinka Kolawole installed Ojomu of Ipee

The Onipe of Ipee, Oba Adebayo Lawal has installed the award-winning veteran journalist, Adeyinka Sunday Kolawole, as the Ojomu of Ipee Land.

The colourful investiture ceremony held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Onipe Palace, Ipee, in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Speaking at the event, Oba Lawal prayed for a successful and impactful reign for the new Ojomu and urged him to uphold the oath of office, tradition, and the dignity of the palace in the discharge of his duties.

The programme was moderated by the Akogun of Ipee, Chief Samuel Ogunwuyi, who charged Chief Kolawole to deploy his vast experience, wisdom, and professional expertise in serving the Ipee community with loyalty, dedication, and commitment through the palace.

The oath of office was administered on the new Ojomu by Chief S. O. Dara.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Kolawole expressed deep gratitude to Kabiyesi for finding him worthy and for upholding the cherished traditions of their forefathers.

He pledged to serve with humility, integrity, and dedication, noting that he would work tirelessly to promote peace, unity, and development in Ipee land, as well as faithfully represent his compound at the palace.

Chief Adeyinka Sunday Kolawole, an Editor with THISDAY Newspapers, was born in 1962 in Ipee.

He hails from Elega’s Compound, Lagbedu Araka, of the Elega Royal Family, and is the son of the departed Prince Samuel Adebisi Kolawole and Mrs. Elizabeth Awawu Kolawole.

He is married to Eniola Folashade Lydia Kolawole, and the marriage is blessed with children.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Asiwaju of Ipee Land, Chief Olabode Afolayan; the President of Ipee Progressive Union, Mr. Simeon Ogunsola; traditional chiefs; princes and princesses; members of the media; as well as friends and family members.

The installation marked another significant moment in the cultural and traditional history of Ipee land.
