Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has described as shocking and unfortunate the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo
The Governor recalled the deceased’s strong ties to Osun State, noting his significant contributions to the State’s political development as Chairman of the Osun State Gubernatorial Primary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022.
“In those turbulent days, the late Deputy Governor calmly resolved the feud by his now popular saying that the venue of the 2022 primary was the palace and that anybody looking for the king must come to the palace. I went on to win the primary and the 2022 governorship election,” Adeleke recounted.
He added that from then on, Governor Douye Diri assigned Senator Ewhrudjakpo the responsibility of receiving him during his many visits to Bayelsa.
“He was a superbly brilliant politician, a man who built and sustained bridges of brotherhood and partnership,” Governor Adeleke noted.
Consoling Governor Diri and the people of Bayelsa State, Adeleke described the deceased as “an extremely loyal deputy with a sterling support base, who enjoyed the deep confidence and trust of his boss.”
“I always admired the brotherly bond between the Governor and his Deputy. Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a tested politician a reliable Commissioner for Works during the two terms of Governor Seriake Dickson, a former Senator of the Federal Republic, and a close ally of the performing Governor of Bayelsa State.
“I associate with and commiserate with my brother, the Governor, in this sad moment. I pray the good Lord grants him the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. To the family, I pray for divine strength and protection over those he left behind,” Governor Adeleke said.
