Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke has urgwd all registered political parties to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the Commission’s Guidelines and Regulations governing the conduct of party primaries.

He made the call as the party primary elections in preparation for the 2026 governorship poll draw nearer.

Also, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the state emphasizes the need for free, fair, transparent, and peaceful primary elections that truly reflect the will of party members.

INEC notes that many pre-election litigations usually arise from poorly conducted primaries—issues that can be significantly minimized if parties adhere strictly to due process and established guidelines.

According to the schedule released by the Commission’s National Headquarters, party primaries are to be conducted between 24th November and 15th December, 2025.

INEC reiterates its readiness to provide political parties with the necessary support, monitoring, and guidance to ensure full compliance with the law.

The Commission also calls on all stakeholders, including security agencies, to collaborate with INEC in ensuring credible, orderly, and peaceful primaries across the state.

Furthermore, INEC will continue to closely observe the activities of political parties and will not hesitate to take appropriate action, within the limits of the law, against any party that fails to comply with electoral regulations.
