mmediate former Attorney of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has joined the 2027 Kebbi State governorship eace.
He announced his bid during an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday, expressing confidence that he enjoys broad support across the state.
According to him, “INEC guidelines do not permit mobilisation at this stage, but when the time comes, you will see that we have the support of the people of Kebbi State.”
His words: “I have agreed to contest, and there is no retreat. God willing, we are going to win because we have people who believe in us.”
Malami criticised the current All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, alleging that its policies have deepened economic hardship, particularly in the North.
He noted that rising insecurity has forced many farmers off their land, while long-standing rice mills have shut down due to “policies that favour foreign companies.”
According to him, his governorship bid is driven by a determination to tackle insecurity, revive agriculture, and protect the welfare of Kebbi residents.
Malami defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) earlier this year and has since aligned himself with leaders of the coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
