Arole Oduduwa and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, on Friday marked his 51st birthday with special prayers for Nigeria, Africa, and the Yoruba Race worldwide reaffirming his unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and national development.

In a solemn atmosphere at the Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife, the spiritual head of the Yoruba Race worldwide expressed profound gratitude to the Almighty Olodumare for the gift of life, wisdom, and strength to continue serving humanity through the revered throne of Oduduwa.

According to a statement signed by Otunba Moses Olafare, Director, Media & Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, the monarch, who also serves as Co-chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) — described his journey so far as one of divine purpose and service.

The statement further noted that Ooni Ogunwusi emphasized the critical role of traditional leadership in promoting national unity and advancing the well-being of citizens across Nigeria and the African continent.

As Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), the Ooni described Nigeria as a nation richly blessed with human and natural resources.

He called on all citizens to contribute their quota towards building a peaceful and prosperous country.

Also, he urged traditional rulers and subjects of Oduduwa descent around the world to shun divisions and work collectively to overcome the challenges confronting the nation.

“On this special occasion of my 51st birthday, I return all glory to Olodumare for His mercies and grace. I pray for peace in our nation, for wisdom for our leaders, and for prosperity in the lives of all members of the Oduduwa race globally. Our diversity is our strength, and together we can make Nigeria great,” the Ooni declared.

The monarch also called for a renewed commitment to cultural values, noting that African traditions and identity are vital tools for social cohesion and national rebirth. He stressed that culture, when properly harnessed, can serve as a strong unifying force among the people.

Reaffirming his commitment to the renaissance of Yoruba culture, the Ooni highlighted youth empowerment, education, and women’s inclusion in leadership as key pillars for building a progressive and inclusive society.

He expressed appreciation to sons and daughters of Oduduwa across the world for their loyalty, support, and contributions toward preserving the rich heritage of their ancestors. He urged them to remain united in upholding the values of peace, love, and respect for humanity.
