Following the group stage draws for the 2025 NWFL Championship, Head Coach of Osun Babes FC, Wole Animasahun, has assured that his team would surprise those underestimating his team’s chances in the competition.

In an exclusive chat with the team’s Media Officer, Oluwaseun Omolola, Coach Animasahun expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness and promised that the team would silence critics with strong performances and positive results.

He said, “We are fully aware that we are in a group with some wonderful teams who have all paid their dues in women’s football over the year. But we, Osun Babes FC, are no pushovers.”

Reflecting on last year’s campaign, Animasahun acknowledged that the team narrowly missed out during the playoffs, but stressed that lessons had been learned.

His words, “Last year, we missed out narrowly at the playoffs, but this year, we are here to redeem our image. We will not make the same mistakes again.

“We respect all our opponents, but we are giving this Championship our very best shot. Our ultimate goal is to return to the NWFL Premiership — where we truly belong.”

The coach further stated that his players are in excellent shape, both mentally and physically, and are fully aware of the stakes.

“Every match will be treated like a final. The players know what is at stake and are ready to give their all.”

Osun Babes FC has been drawn into Group B2 alongside Ghetto Tigers, Moje Queens, Delta Babes, and Imo Strikers FC.

While group stage matches begin on September 13, 2025, Osun Babes FC will kick off their campaign on September 15, 2025, against Imo Strikers FC at the Abiriba Stadium in Abia State.
