The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has extolled the virtues of the immediate past Speaker of  Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, on the occasion of his 53rd birthday.

In a heartfelt message, Oyebamiji described Owoeye as “an enigma and a rare gift to humanity”, noting that his life and career have made significant impacts across governance, politics, and public service.

A respected grassroots politician, Owoeye began his political journey as an elected Councillor for Ward 10 in Ilesa East Local Government from 1999 to 2002. He went on to serve four consecutive terms in the Osun State House of Assembly, representing Ilesa East State Constituency from 2007 to 2023. During his legislative career, he held key leadership positions including Minority Leader (2007–2010), Majority Leader (from 2011), and eventually Speaker of the House from 2019 to 2023.

Currently serving as the Chairman of the AMBO Movement Campaign Team, Owoeye is playing a pivotal role in supporting Oyebamiji’s ambition to become the APC governorship candidate and the next Governor of Osun State.

In his tribute, Oyebamiji, a frontline aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Osun governorship election, praised Owoeye for his unwavering love for the state and his outstanding service to both his constituents and Osun citizens at large. He described Owoeye as a true embodiment of the Omoluabi ethos — representing integrity, humility, hard work, honesty, selflessness, and steadfastness.

Highlighting Owoeye’s legislative legacy, Oyebamiji commended his leadership in the passage of several landmark laws, including the Osun Amotekun Law, the Anti-Kidnapping Law, the establishment of the University of Ilesa, the Environmental Protection Bill, the Local Government Amendment Law, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission Bill, and the Osun State Disability Law, among others.

He said, “Rt. Hon. Owoeye remains a strong pillar in the progress of our party — a formidable voice and rallying point for electoral success.

“His tireless support and unwavering commitment to the AMBO Movement have played a vital role in its strength and continued growth.”

He added, “Celebrating Hon. Timothy Owoeye today is a celebration of excellence, consistency, loyalty, and a lifetime dedicated to service. His unmatched experience in governance and capacity development makes him a treasured asset to our party, particularly in Ijesaland and Osun State as a whole.”

“From his humble beginnings as a Councillor to becoming the longest-serving legislator in Osun’s history, Owoeye’s track record remains an inspiring testament to dedication and public trust.”

Oyebamiji said:”On behalf of my family and the AMBO Movement, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye on his 53rd birthday. We are proud of your remarkable achievements and contributions to humanity.

“May God continue to bless you with wisdom, strength, and the grace to keep serving our people and our state. Congratulations, Tup.”
