Tinubu arrives Ogun for Awujale’s Fidau

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday arrived Ogun State to participate in the eigth day prayer otherwise called Fidau, for the departed Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, in Ijebu Ode.

Accompanied by his wife and First Lady, Oluremi, he was received on arrival at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, together with other South-West governors, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State.

The Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun,confirmed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter)

According to the post, “President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, Ogun State, ahead of his visit to Ijebu-Ode to attend the eighth-day prayer ceremony for the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

“He is accompanied by First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and is received by a delegation of dignitaries led by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and other governors in the South-West”.

The prayer is scheduled to take place at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, one of Ijebu-Ode’s largest public venues.

Oba Adetona, a foremost revered Yoruba monarch, joined his ancestors on July 13 at the age of 91 and was buried the following day according to Islamic rites.

Security has been tightened across Ijebu-Ode, especially around the Dipo Dina Stadium, the Awujale’s Palace, and his Igbeba private residence.
