Ex-Health minister, Prof Isaac Adewole, has described the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi as a blessing to his kingdom and Yorubaland.

Celebrating the monarch on  his 58th birthday,  he said that his depth of cultural engagements has marked him out as a worthy ambassador of Yoruba race both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.

According to him, the royal father’s wide exposure has been impacting positively on the developmental strides of his community, as evident in the visible growth being witnessed in the ancient town since his assumption of the throne of his forefathers.

To him, the philanthropic gesture that the Oluwo has been extending to his subjects is a measure of his undiluted love for his town and the people who spontaneously mill round him as ants do to sugar.

He said that the monarch is loved by his people is not an overstatement as he freely mingles with them at any slightest opportunity to radiate his love for them.

Adewole, also a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, said:  “I congratulate the people of Iwo on the occasion of the 58th birthday anniversary of Oba Akanbi who is the paramount ruler of Iwoland and a pride of the Yoruba race.

“The love of the Oluwo for his people and Iwoland is such that there is nothing constitutionally allowed that he cannot do in order to ensure that his community does not lag behind among the comity of communities in Yorubaland.

“His courage and prowess to speak the truth to the authority wherever he finds himself has distinguished him among his peers which is a rare attribute of a man of vision and mission.

“I am praying for continuous God’s guidance for the revered traditional ruler in his remaining journey of life.

“On behalf of my family, I pray that may the one of the foremost reigning Yoruba monarchs of our time, the Oluwo of Iwo, perpetually enjoy the favour of God to enable him celebrate many more remarkable birthday anniversaries in the land of the living in a sound mind, additional prosperity and accomplished aspirations in all ramifications”
