Amotekun boss Omoyele visits Osun market, receives land donated for security post

The Amotekun Corps Commander in Osun State, Chief Adekunle Omoyele, has paid an inspection visit to the newly commissioned Akede Iyaloja Market in Osogbo, the state capital.

Meant to strengthen community safety and enhance grassroots security, the visit also aimed at assessing the market premises and providing strategic security guidance to ensure round-the-clock protection for traders, customers, and residents in the area.

Omoyele was warmly received by notable community and market leaders, including the representative of the Ataoja of Osogboland, Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe; Chairman of Osogbo Progressive Union (Home Branch), Alhaji Badmus Amelemero; Iyaloja-designate, Chief Osunkemitan Oyeyemi Olalude; and the Otun Iyaloja-designate, Chief Adenike Adeyemi.

Delivering a message on behalf of Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, the Ataoja of Osogboland, Efe praised the Amotekun Commander’s unwavering commitment to community safety and his relentless fight against criminal activities across Osun State.

He described Omoyele as a “man of the people,” lauding his professionalism, integrity, and impactful leadership, which have contributed significantly to the safety of Osogbo.

He said, “The market community, in collaboration with the Ataoja-in-Council, believes in the capacity and credibility of Chief Omoyele and the Amotekun Corps to protect the lives and livelihoods of traders. This is why we have deemed it necessary to donate land within the Akede Iyaloja Market for a permanent security post”.

In his remarks, Omoyele expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ataoja of Osogboland and the market leadership for their generous and strategic gesture.

He noted that establishing a security post within the market would not only deter criminal activity but also create a secure environment conducive to economic growth.

“Security is a shared responsibility. I commend the market leadership for taking this proactive step in supporting the presence of Amotekun at this new market. We will deploy trained personnel and adequate resources to maintain peace, safety, and order in this area”.

He also called on other market communities across the state to emulate the Akede Iyaloja initiative by creating avenues for collaboration with local security outfits, especially Amotekun, which was established to bridge the gap in grassroots policing.

In her remark, the Iyaloja-designate, Chief Osunkemitan Oyeyemi Olalude, expressed deep appreciation to the Amotekun Corps Commander for honoring the market with his visit. She praised his accessibility, humility, and steadfast commitment to public service.

“Chief Omoyele’s visit today reassures us that we have a dependable partner in security. We are confident this partnership will usher in lasting peace and protection for our market,” she said.
