The 86/87/88 alumni set of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure Old Students Association, has commissioned three classrooms and a staff room within the school premises which it renovated as this year’s project.
Known as the Legacy Team, the alumni set is led by Otunba Alabi Alaba.
A statement by the spokesman of the Legacy Team, OGSA 86/87/88 Alumni Set,vAfolayan Davies, said: “The commissioning which attracted the presence of the old boys and the School management was held on Saturday 24th May 2025.
The present Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure, Mr Adeniyi Oluyide who was also an old boy gave kudos to the Alumni set for their commitment to sow back to their Alma mater on yearly basis. He prayed for God’s strength and more blessings to the Alumni Sets.
In his remark, Professor Adu Olufemi, the pioneer President of 86/87/88 Alumni Set viewed the occasion as celebration of milestones of achievement and he applauded the present Executive committee for their team spirit in building on the existing foundation laid in 2016.
He advocated for emulation of good legacy by giving back to our alma mater as posterity will judge. He equally appreciated the school management for gracing the occasion.
During the commissioning the President, Otunba Charles Alaba Alabi appreciated all Old Boys for their financial commitment and resiliency towards the execution of all the projects stated below since 2016:
– Drilling of borehole at the school hostel – 2016;
– Renovation of 3 classrooms and reticulation of borehole to hostels and office – 2017;
– Building of 6 rooms. modern toilets for staff – 2018;
– Reticulation of borehole to the toilets – 2019;
– Renovation of Physics and Agric laboratories – 2020;
-:Equipping Physics laboratory with tables and stools and ceiling fans – 2021;
– Installation of 10 units solar street light in the school -2022;
-;Donations of 100 plastic chairs and Donations of 78 textbooks of different authors to the school – 2023;
– Construction of 2 nos Butteries – 2023;
-;Financial gifts to some past teachers – 2023;
-;Scholarships scheme for 20 indigent students – 2024;:and
Renovation of 3 nos of classrooms and a staff room – 2025 newly commissioned.
The President assured the Principal and the school management of their commitment to execute more projects by the Alumni Sets.”
