Ahead of Saturday’s governorship and Houses of Assembly elections, 36 political parties, have declared support for the re-election bid of Governor Samuel Ortom.
The parties, on the platform of Forum of Registered Political Parties, Benue State chapter, made the declaration through the forum’s Chairman, Mr. Godwin Odeh, when leaders of the parties paid a solidarity visit on the governor in Makurdi.
Odeh said the forum resolved to support Ortom after an assessment of his efforts in ensuring the defence of the Benue Valley against internal and external oppressors.
According to him, “by this decision we have also resolved to channel our networks through our structures to mobilise our members to vote for you, Governor Ortom in Saturday’s election.
“We have no other choice but you, hence through our expanded networks we have also fought to ensure Benue land was not surrendered to external and internal oppressors and we will continue to remain committed to the struggle for a better and free Benue.”
