Three armed robbers who allegedly attempted to attack the Dangote Integrated Steel Rolling Mills in Osogbo,the Osun State capital have been killed in a joint security operation comprising the Police, Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad, and Hunters.
It was learned that information got to the Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad on patrol, alerting the police and the hunters who quickly moved to the scene.
The hoodlums on sighting the operatives allegedly opened fire on them and in the process of a gun duel, three were killed while five others were reportedly arrested.
Amotekun Commander in the state, Brig Gen Bashir Adewinmbi said “We received a distress call from the CSO of the company at midnight that a group of armed robbers had invaded the company to steal. The Amotekun operatives swung into action immediately and moved to the scene of the attack with the police Anti-Cultism Squad. When the robbers sited the security men, they opened fire on them. Five of the suspected armed robbers were arrested with bullet wounds while three robbers were dead on the spot due to an injury sustained during the gun duel.”
Exhibits recovered from them include one single-barrel gun with four expended shells and one Itel phone.
Adewinmbi applauded the operatives of Amotekun, Police, and Hunters for a job well done.
He said: “The corpses of the three armed robbers killed had been deposited at Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo while the remaining five suspects who sustained injury during the gun duel are receiving treatment.
“The suspects will be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department at Police Headquarters in Osogbo for discreet investigation and prosecution.”
