Oka Akoko , the political heartbeat of Akoko Southwest Local Government, was thrown into a moment of history on April 9, 2026 , as Hon. David Ajobiewe officially declared his intention to contest for the Ondo State House of Assembly (Akoko Southwest Constituency I) under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) .

The declaration, held at the Town Hall, Oka Akoko, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of party faithful, community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders from Ward 1 to Ward 8, filling the hall to capacity and spilling into surrounding areas in a show of unprecedented Political solidarity.

ROYAL FATHERS, PARTY LEADERS, AND GRASSROOTS MOBILIZERS STORM EVENT

The event drew the presence of highly respected traditional authorities, led by High Chief Matthew Osofola Asemoloye , the Oluboje of Iboje Oka and Chairman of the Oba-in-Council, alongside other prominent chiefs including High Chief Olubodun Israel (Olukanmu of Ikannu) , Chief Alabi Matthew (Alagele of Ikannu) , Chief E.A. Jegede (Alabisi of Ikannu), Chief Adejuyigbe Moses (Elerunme of Simerin) , Chief Animaseun (Eleruku of Agba), Chief Dr. Pius Abosede (Ooru of Ejo Mefa Korowa), and Chief Ojo Samuel (Oloode Ija).

Political heavyweights and APC leaders also graced the occasion, including Former House of Assembly member Hon. Gideon Omojola, Hon. Suleman Akeem, Hon. Banji Amuda, Hon. Lawrence Kenhinde, Hon. The declaration took the shape of a people-driven movement, with massive participation from youth and socio-political groups including the Federation of Oka Students Union (National Body), Ondo North Youth Congress , Dongo Youth FC , Emaculate Group and several grassroots mobilization structures.

Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Damilola Ajakaye Solomon, Speaker of the Ondo North Youth Congress, described Ajobiewe as “a true father to youths and students,” recounting his consistent support, including financial assistance and sponsorship of educational pursuits.

In an emotional and powerful address, Hon. Ajobiewe declared that his ambition is a response to persistent calls from the people.

He traced his political journey from 2015 , noting that this marks his Fourth attempt (4TH) at securing the party’s ticket, despite what he described as his strong electoral value and widespread grassroots support.

A LEGACY OF SELF-FUNDED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Ajobiewe highlighted his numerous contributions to community development, emphasizing that all were executed with his Personal Resources without holding elective office. His interventions include:

Annual empowerment of widows
Support programs for farmers.
Rehabilitation of damaged boreholes
Supply of medications to clinics.
Organization of free medical outreaches Yearly.
Educational support and student sponsorship
Distribution of food items to vulnerable households

Speaking on behalf of attended councilors, Hon. Ibrahim Afogun assured that Ajobiewe’s message would be delivered across all wards .

High Chief Asemoloye, Chairman of the Oba-in-Council, commended Ajobiewe’s selfless contributions, stating that “not every politician can gather traditional rulers like this, but we came because of his good character.” He urged the party to support him, describing him as a worthy candidate.

In a dramatic show of strength, supporters moved in a massive procession from the Town Hall to the APC Secretariat , causing a temporary standstill in the town as roads were flooded with supporters

At the Secretariat, Hon. Ajobiewe formally presented his Letter of Intent to the APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sunday Ajulu.

He further described him as a philanthropist and committed party man, Acknowledging his financial support in renovating the party secretariat.
