Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has declared 2026 as a year of renewed commitment, professionalism, and improved service delivery across the Corps.
He spoke during his first parade of the year, where he addressed officers and marshals nationwide, reaffirming discipline, unity, professionalism, and dedication to service as the core values that define the FRSC.
In a statement by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Corps Marshal said every officer on patrol represents the image of the Corps and remains under constant public scrutiny.
He warned that any form of indiscipline, incivility, or unprofessional conduct would no longer be tolerated, stressing that patrol teams serve as frontline ambassadors of the FRSC.
Mohammed charged officers and marshals to remain courteous, professional, and firmly guided by the Corps’ core values of transparency, fairness, timeliness, and service orientation while discharging their duties.
The Corps Marshal disclosed that the 2026 Corporate Strategic Goals of the FRSC have been approved and released, directing all commands and formations nationwide to align their operations with clearly defined strategic initiatives, actionable plans, and performance-driven job binders.
Addressing prevailing security challenges, he urged personnel to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times, both on and off duty, citing threats such as kidnapping, robbery, and banditry. He emphasised that prevention remains more effective than reaction in ensuring personal and collective safety.
On staff welfare and wellbeing, Mohammed encouraged officers and marshals to prioritise their health by regularly monitoring their health status and subscribing to available health plans, noting that good health is critical to effective service delivery.
Outlining management’s focus areas for 2026, he listed priorities to include smarter operations for improved service delivery, faster response to road traffic crashes and emergencies, improved supervision and public engagement, zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, enhanced welfare support, and protection for disciplined and committed personnel.
He also announced sustained welfare interventions for the year, including continuous capacity building and training programmes, promotion exercises guided strictly by merit and discipline, increased approvals for further studies, timely promotions, renovation of field command.
Also accommodations, prompt payment of salaries and allowances, improved deployment practices, enhanced access to medical care, strengthened cooperative schemes, and intensified efforts to ensure prompt settlement of insurance claims.
The Corps Marshal issued a stern warning against all forms of misconduct, including extortion, abuse of authority, and incivility toward the motoring public, and called on Commanding Officers at all levels to mentor subordinates, supervise effectively, and lead by example.
He urged officers and marshals to remain focused, innovative, and hopeful, expressing confidence that 2026 would be a landmark year for the Federal Road Safety Corps and its personnel.
