The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has directed its members across the state to vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke under the banner of Accord Party in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
It announced this decision on Monday through its state chairman, Sunday Bisi, during a meeting with party elders, stakeholders, and representatives from wards and local governments.
Bisi described the move as a strategic response to the leadership crisis at the PDP’s national level, which he said has made it difficult for the party to field a candidate in the election.
The party’s leadership said Adeleke’s endorsement followed consultations across Osun’s three senatorial districts and was taken in what it called the broader interest of residents.
The state chapter said it would not allow internal disputes at the national level to derail what it considers the progress achieved under the current administration.
In a formal directive, party structures from polling units to the State Executive Committee were instructed to mobilise fully in support of Adeleke’s candidacy on the Accord platform.
The PDP emphasised that the decision was aimed at consolidating ongoing development rather than abandoning its core principles.
Highlighting achievements of the administration, the party cited road projects in major towns, reforms in primary healthcare, free medical programmes for the elderly, support initiatives for persons with disabilities, and financial interventions for small businesses, farmers, and artisans.
It also pointed to the establishment of the University of Ilesa as a key milestone in expanding access to higher education.
Reaffirming its grassroots strength, the Osun PDP pledged loyalty to the governor and expressed confidence that voters would endorse his leadership at the polls, describing the election as a referendum on continuity and performance.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the party, the governor, and the people of Osun State.
