A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jamiu Olawumi, has declared that Osun State former Deputy Governor and ex-two-term Senator, Iyiola Omisore, is both professionally and politically equipped to lead Osun State to sustainable development if elected governor in the 2026 election.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Olawumi said Omisore’s vast academic qualifications, technical background, and extensive political experience uniquely position him as the ideal candidate to steer the state toward meaningful growth and progress.

According to him, “Osun State stands at a critical juncture in its journey toward sustainable development. What is needed now is a leader with visionary capacity, technical expertise, intellectual depth, and political maturity. Senator Iyiola Omisore embodies all of these.”

Describing Omisore as “a complete package,” Olawumi noted that the APC stalwart is not just a seasoned politician but also an accomplished engineer with international recognition and a solid academic background.

He recalled that Omisore’s early rise to political prominence was shaped by his involvement in pro-democracy activism during Nigeria’s military era in the 1980s. According to him, “Though protests against injustice thrust his name into national consciousness, Omisore’s deeper value lies in his professionalism and strategic thinking rooted in his civil engineering background.”

“Engineering instills discipline, problem-solving skills, and the capacity for strategic planning — all critical qualities for effective governance. Omisore’s training and experience have prepared him to approach leadership with technical precision and developmental foresight,” Olawumi added.

He stressed that Osun needs a leader who understands urban planning and infrastructure development and who can harness the state’s natural resources for the benefit of the people. He said Omisore’s professional and academic grounding makes him an ideal fit.

“His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to lifelong learning and research-driven policymaking. As a scholar, Omisore has contributed meaningfully to national discourse on governance, infrastructure, and development. This intellectual foundation enables him to devise practical, evidence-based solutions to Osun’s challenges,” he noted.

On Omisore’s political credentials, Olawumi highlighted his service as Deputy Governor and later as Senator of the Federal Republic, where he gained extensive experience in governance, legislation, and political negotiations.

“He has consistently demonstrated leadership, competence, and a strong connection with the grassroots. His wide political network and influence make him a rallying force capable of mobilizing people and resources for collective progress,” Olawumi said.

He concluded by saying that Osun cannot afford another “trial-and-error leadership,” adding that Omisore offers a rare blend of professional capability, academic insight, and political strength.

“What Osun needs now is a proven leader — not just one who can make promises, but one who can turn vision into reality. Senator Omisore represents that brand of leadership where competence meets commitment, and where governance is about measurable results, not mere rhetoric,” he stated.
