Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has described the newly released 2025 Third Quarter Fiscal Transparency Report as a strong validation of his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in public governance.

The report, released by BudgIT Nigeria, ranked Osun State among only 11 states nationwide that scored a perfect 100 percent in the Q3 2025 Fiscal Transparency League Table.

Reacting to the development, Adeleke said the achievement represents the highest fiscal transparency rating recorded by Osun State in more than a decade, describing it as a “fantastic New Year gift” to the people of the state.

“We run a transparent, due-process-driven administration. Across sectors, our budgetary process continues to receive accolades. Osun State has once again distinguished itself on the national stage by emerging as one of only 11 states to attain a perfect 100% score,” the Governor stated.

GAdeleke noted that the report effectively debunked what he described as baseless allegations from the opposition, affirming that Osun State has been prudently and competently managed over the past three years in line with national and global best practices.

The BudgIT ranking assesses states based on the availability, timeliness, and completeness of key public finance documents, the functionality of e-procurement portals, and the accessibility of fiscal data repositories.

According to the Governor, the 100 percent rating further underscores Osun State’s unwavering commitment to open governance.

“Osun came first in primary healthcare access in the South-West, moved from 33rd to 7th position in national examination rankings, reduced state debt by over 40 percent, and pushed back infrastructure deficit by about 40 percent. These are verifiable ratings from federal agencies,” he said.

“Now, Osun has emerged first in fiscal budgetary transparency. This remarkable achievement is a testament to our undiluted commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility as pillars of good governance.”

Adeleke added that under his administration, Osun State has strengthened public financial management systems, embraced open budgeting and procurement practices, and deepened public trust.

“The 100% score affirms that Osun State is setting the pace in fiscal transparency and open budgeting systems, reinforcing our reform agenda and commitment to delivering a government that is fully accountable to the people,” he concluded.

Also speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Professor Moruf Adeleke, said the rating reflects a government that strictly adheres to due process and global best practices.

“The score shows that Osun State is being run transparently, with timely budget implementation reports, open procurement processes, and fiscal data readily accessible on the state website,” the Commissioner said.

He commended Governor Adeleke for granting the ministry the autonomy and political support needed to manage the fiscal process transparently.

“Mr Governor demonstrated strong political will and courage to ensure all budgetary processes are open and transparent. We are grateful for the trust and leadership,” he added.
