2024: We’ll mobilise votes for Aiyedatiwa – Ondo reps

  • Adetimehin vows to strengthen APC ahead of poll

On Monday, members of the Ondo State APC Caucus in the House of Representatives pledged their support for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election in the State.

A statement by the governor’s spokesman, Ebenezer Adeniyan said the eight members of the caucus said they had resolved to put the issues of the last primary election behind to unite behind the Governor to ensure victory in the governorship election.

The caucus, represented by four of the eight members, announced their support during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House in Akure, the state capital.

They are Hon. Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Hon. Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South West/Akoko South East), Hon. Festus Adefiranye (Ile-Oluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo) and Hon. Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).

The other four members, Hon. Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), Hon. Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Hon. Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North) and Hon. Ife Ehindero (Akoko North West/Akoko North East), who were absent, sent their words of support to the Governor.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Adelegbe said the visit was to erase any doubt on whether or not the members of the National Assembly are fully supporting the Governor in the coming election.

According to him, members of the caucus have resolved to mobilise grassroots support and votes for Aiyedatiwa in the election to make his victory a landslide.

Adelegbe, who commended the people of Ondo State for not joining the ongoing nationwide protest, hailed the governor;s leadership quality in engaging various stakeholders to ensure peace in the State.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the APC in the State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, thanked the House of Reps members for their timely declaration of support for the Governor in the coming election.

He said the development promotes unity and will strengthen the party in the State ahead of the November governorship election.

In his response, Aiyedatiwa thanked the lawmakers for the visit and declaration of support which he said is a testament to their loyalty to the APC.

“Even though I have emerged as the party’s flagbearer, remember that the ballot will bear the APC name, not just mine. This is the APC’s election, and we must work collectively to achieve victory.

“You are the leaders and representatives of our people and your support is invaluable. With all of you on our side, we are assured that our party’s victory is secured,” he said.
